Is my child ready?
The Frog Hollow Core Class is for children ages eight through twelve. However, children mature academically at their own pace, and not every eight-year-old is ready. To be ready for Frog Hollow, students should be expressing their own thoughts in written sentences. Inventive spelling is fine, but they should be comfortable writing independent sentences. They should also be ready to participate in a group setting, and be able to take turns listening and focusing in class circle. Frog Hollow curriculum is not reading based, so reading ability is optional.
Should my 12-year-old be in the Core Class or Teen Core Class?
Twelve-year-olds ready for more academically challenging projects, with more emphasis on organization and longer writing, or who are ready for more of a teen social circle, should go for the Teen Core Class. Students who are struggling writers, or who want lots of imaginative play, would do well in the Core Class. Somewhere in the middle? Can’t go wrong.
Can my child visit?
Yes! We do visits in two ways: prospective students can drop by with their parents for a short observational visit, or they can come for a drop-in day. Please set up visits by email.
When does registration open?
Registration for the fall opens mid-April, but you can place your child on the waitlist beforehand if you would like priority.
Do you offer scholarships?
Frog Hollow is committed to helping all interested families access our classes. If you need a scholarship to attend, please send in the scholarship form on the registration page, and we’ll see what we can do.
